Our externship program offers an invaluable opportunity for DVM students to gain hands-on experience in a contemporary clinical environment, equipping you with the skills and confidence needed to excel in your future career.
Program Overview:
Our externships are flexible, lasting between two to eight weeks, tailored to fit your academic schedule, typically spanning two to three weeks. You will engage in a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
During your externship, you will work closely with our dedicated veterinary team, applying your knowledge in real-world scenarios. You will enhance your problem-solving abilities, technical skills, and client communication while experiencing the diverse caseload of a small animal practice. A weekly stipend of $250 will be provided to support your educational journey.
Your Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of a mentor veterinarian, you will gather patient histories, conduct physical exams, formulate diagnostic and treatment plans, assist in surgical procedures, manage medical cases, and document your findings in SOAP notes efficiently.
Candidate Profile:
We seek enthusiastic and proactive students who are ready to contribute to our patient care initiatives while upholding the highest professional and ethical standards. Familiarity with the Veterinary Practice Act and an understanding of the scope of duties under veterinary supervision are encouraged to ensure a safe and beneficial experience for all.
