As an Intermittent Fitness Instructor under the guidance of the Assistant Coordinator for Fitness Programs, you will have the opportunity to inspire and lead a variety of engaging classes within our Group Exercise and Instructional Class Program. You will be responsible for crafting personalized lesson plans, mastering diverse class formats, supervising participants, and conducting instructional sessions that promote fitness and well-being.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and muscular function, along with the ability to implement effective exercise programs and ensure the safety of group exercise.
- Possession of a professional instructor certification in a relevant field or equivalent training.
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, ensuring efficiency in class preparation.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are mandatory.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including those with special needs or limitations.
- In-depth knowledge of the classes being instructed and the latest trends in fitness.
- Prior experience in a supervisory role within an instructional setting is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new class formats.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through workshops and conferences.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee and engage with class participants to foster a supportive environment.
- Lead exercise and instructional sessions effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Stay informed of safety and evacuation procedures relevant to the workplace.
- Participate in mandatory meetings, workshops, and retreats to enhance team collaboration.
- Provide excellent customer service to all participants and staff.
- Maintain punctuality and adhere to absence protocols.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Uphold and enforce all ASI departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to student development and leadership.
- Design and implement individual lesson plans tailored to participants' needs.
- Ensure the instructional area is well-maintained at all times.
Additional Responsibilities
- This position is classified as a "mandated reporter" under California law, requiring compliance with ASI policy regarding child abuse and neglect reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
