Join our dedicated team as an ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of ECMO circuits for patients in need of long-term pulmonary and/or cardiopulmonary support. You will work collaboratively under the guidance of an ECMO physician, adhering to established ECMO orders and parameters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare professionals, including physicians and perfusionists, in initiating, managing, and concluding ECMO procedures, along with related therapies, such as circuit changes, priming, and medication administration as permitted by your license.
- Promote a culture of safety by thoroughly handing off ECMO patients and detailing all aspects of their care and circuit condition.
- Conduct comprehensive examinations of the ECMO circuit to ensure its integrity while collaborating on patient care plans during rounds.
- Maintain the continuity and security of the ECMO circuit during patient transfers, performing regular assessments to minimize risks.
- Monitor vital parameters, including blood gas values and anticoagulation levels, to ensure optimal patient well-being in line with prescribed guidelines.
- Oversee the titration of anticoagulants, analgesics, inotropes, and other infusions, managing blood product orders and adjustments to ECMO pump flow and oxygenator gas flow as necessary.
