About the job
Join our dynamic team at AFRY as an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Solar Photovoltaic Systems. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the design and enhancement of photovoltaic power systems tailored for utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) solar projects. Your expertise will guide the design of PV systems, focusing on DC/AC configurations, inverter selection, energy yield analysis, and seamless grid interconnection.
Collaboration is key as you partner with HV, LV, civil, and project teams to produce technically robust and constructible solar PV designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize solar PV systems, determining optimal module layouts, string configurations, inverter sizing, and DC/AC ratios.
- Conduct detailed PV system calculations, including energy yield assessments, system losses, voltage drops, and performance analyses.
- Prepare and review comprehensive PV system design drawings, including PV layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), stringing diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
- Specify and select essential PV components such as modules, inverters, combiner boxes, transformers, and monitoring systems.
- Utilize advanced PV design and simulation tools, including PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate effectively with HV and LV engineers concerning grid connections, substations, transformers, and interface requirements.
- Ensure adherence to both international and local standards (PEC, PGC, IEC, IEEE, NEC, utility grid codes).
- Assist procurement by drafting technical specifications and reviewing vendor documentation.
- Provide technical support throughout construction, testing, and commissioning phases, including addressing RFIs and providing design clarifications.
- Engage in technical meetings, design reviews, and client discussions to ensure project alignment.
