AECOM is actively seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineering Lead specializing in Hyper-scale Data Centers to take charge as the Data Center Electrical Engineer Lead. This role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust electrical systems tailored for large-scale data centers.
The successful candidate will be integral to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our data center infrastructure. We are looking for someone with a strong electrical engineering background and hands-on experience in high-density data center environments.
This position offers the flexibility of remote work and can be performed from various locations across the U.S. where AECOM has an office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement electrical systems for hyper-scale data centers, focusing on medium and low-voltage power distribution, backup power systems, and emergency systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, bills of materials, and installation drawings.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations, including the National Electric Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to establish specifications, design criteria, and project budgets.
- Analyze electrical systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues, including load balancing, capacity planning, and optimizing power consumption.
- Oversee the maintenance and monitoring of electrical systems, including conducting preventative maintenance, testing, and repairs.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and training programs for electrical technicians and staff.
- Stay informed about advancements in electrical engineering and data center technologies, recommending new technologies to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure.
- Take accountability for project success within the electrical domain.
- Provide specialized technical guidance to support staff, serving as a mentor and leader for mid-level engineers.
- Approve and authorize engineering work as the Engineer of Record.
- Estimate engineering budgets and schedules to meet requirements for complex projects.
- Foster technical client relationships and play a pivotal role in business development.
