This role involves conducting thorough inspections of construction, alterations, capacities, and safety features of various vertical transportation systems, including passenger, freight, and sidewalk elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, and amusement devices, ensuring compliance with NYC Construction Codes and other relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical inspections to verify compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Investigate accidents and complaints to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Observe safety tests on high-speed elevators.
- Perform spot checks and audits on vertical transportation systems.
- Analyze architectural drawings to prepare for inspections.
- Assess changes in occupancy in relation to elevator safety features.
- Issue violations and stop work orders as necessary.
- Verify the credentials of on-site workers.
- Provide testimony in legal proceedings when required.
- Maintain records and generate reports related to inspections.
- Educate stakeholders on relevant laws and regulations.
This position may also involve supervisory duties, including training and evaluating the performance of team members.
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in varying environmental conditions.
