Hourly Pay Range: $23.15 to $27.25
As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at Foster Farms, your primary role will be to deliver immediate medical care for work-related injuries or illnesses, providing on-site treatment or facilitating referrals to off-site medical providers. You will also be responsible for initiating and managing worker’s compensation claims paperwork as necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver timely medical aid:
- Assist all team members with injuries sustained during work, addressing both occupational and non-occupational injuries. Call 911 for emergencies as required.
- Educate team members on the proper management of injuries or illnesses.
- Coordinate with external medical professionals, third-party administrators, and management concerning claims.
- Facilitate light duty assignments as prescribed by physicians.
- Communicate physician’s directives to management and human resources.
- Exhibit punctuality and professionalism within the Occupational Health Services Department, adhering to the dress code and maintaining a tidy office environment.
Ensure accurate documentation:
- Input claim information into the Origami system, maintaining records of follow-up care until claims are resolved.
- Keep comprehensive medical charts for team members, documenting all treatment within Origami, including scanning original doctors’ notes.
- Provide necessary Workers’ Compensation documentation to team members, ensuring accurate completion and timely submission to third-party administrators, following OSHA and Self-Insured guidelines. Distribute reports to relevant management personnel.
- Regularly update daily and weekly logs and summaries.
- Manage daily inventory restocking and track supplies, including logging and testing the validity of metal detectable band-aids in line with BRC requirements and disposing of bio-hazardous waste appropriately.
- Comply with all OSHA, State, and Federal regulations.
- Assist safety management with hearing test paperwork for annual testing.
- Support personnel in adhering to the Drug and Alcohol Policy.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Conduct daily plant tours to identify safety issues and check on team members assigned to light duties.
