THE JOB
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you won’t just take on a role; you’ll begin your journey to becoming an emergency rockstar. From day one, you will be actively involved in supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and gaining hands-on experience in real-time. You'll participate in triage, treatment, and care, embarking on a fulfilling career path where opportunities to grow and thrive are abundant. Whether your goal is to become a credentialed technician or explore various avenues in veterinary medicine, we’re committed to supporting your growth every step of the way.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide a warm welcome and support for incoming patients, assisting with triage and guiding them towards appropriate care.
- Support nursing care, treatments, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placements, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to monitor and set up anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Assist in patient care across various settings: from exam rooms to treatment areas, ensuring continuity of care.
- Participate in patient rounds for comprehensive care management.
- Learn and perform CPR to become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
- Advance into more complex responsibilities, such as anesthesia management and more.
