About the job
At Orbital Materials, we leverage cutting-edge AI technology to develop advanced data center hardware that surpasses industry standards. Our AI system meticulously simulates materials at the atomic level, evaluates millions of hardware configurations rapidly, and identifies optimal designs, resulting in hardware specifications that outshine our competitors: 1 MW/rack, PUE < 1.04, and lead times of just 12 weeks.
Every installation generates valuable field data that refines our AI models, leading to continuous improvements in hardware quality. This iterative loop enhances our capabilities with each build cycle. We don’t just benefit from AI advancements; we actively accelerate them.
While data centers are our starting point due to urgent market demands, our pioneering AI-driven development methodology—spanning material discovery, hardware design, and manufacturing optimization—is applicable to any intricate physical system. Data centers serve as our proving ground, not our limit.
With offices in London, Canada, and the USA, we are expanding our teams across machine learning research, product development, mechanical engineering, and chemical engineering. If you are eager to explore the intersection of AI and material science, we want to hear from you.
Role Overview
As the Engineering Manager at Orbital, you will take responsibility for the design and implementation of our internal AI software platform, Curie. You will be tasked with creating features such as a unified context graph that integrates materials, engineering, and manufacturing processes for our AI agents. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, establish high engineering standards, guide projects from prototype to production, and manage a talented software team. We seek a candidate who values craftsmanship, embraces continuous learning, and is adept at building scalable systems.
