Salary and Benefits
Annual salaries for newly appointed Border Patrol Agents range from $51,632 to $92,219, depending on your grade level (GL-5/7). In addition to competitive pay, you will have access to an extensive benefits package that includes health and dental insurance, generous leave policies, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, akin to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
As a newly appointed agent, you may qualify for up to $20,000 in recruitment incentives and an additional $40,000 over your first four years, contingent upon meeting specific criteria.
Duty Locations
Please note that duty assignments are determined by operational needs and may require relocation to prioritized locations, including various sites along the Southwest Border. Duty location influences pay rates, with potential locality pay increases up to 25% for fully trained agents, in line with the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with potential for advancement through grade levels GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12.
