Salary and Benefits
Newly appointed BPAs’ annual base salary ranges from $51,632 to $92,219 depending on the grade level (GL-5/GL-7). Eligible benefits include health and dental insurance, a generous leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives
New hires may receive up to $20,000 in incentives, with $10,000 available after completing the Border Patrol Academy and an additional $10,000 for accepting a prioritized duty location.
Retention Incentives
Newly appointed BPAs can also qualify for up to $40,000 distributed over their first four years.
Duty Locations
Please note that duty assignments may include locations along the Southwest Border. Relocation may be required based on operational needs.
This position is a career ladder opportunity allowing for advancement from GL-5 up to GS-12, with the potential for additional locality pay in high-demand areas.
