Salary and Benefits
The annual base salary for new Border Patrol Agents ranges from $51,632 to $92,219, depending on the grade level (GL-5/GL-7). Agents enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, generous leave policies, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, akin to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents are eligible for up to $20,000 in incentives, with $10,000 awarded upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy and another $10,000 for accepting a prioritized location.
Retention Incentives
Agents may qualify for up to $40,000 in retention incentives over the first four years of service.
Duty Locations
Important: Duty assignments may include various locations along the Southwest Border, and relocation may be required based on operational needs. Duty locations can significantly influence pay rates, with locality pay applicable in certain areas. This position is structured for career progression from GL-5 to GS-12, providing ample opportunities for advancement.
