Salary and Benefits
Newly appointed BPAs can expect an annual salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,219, depending on grade levels GL-5 to GL-7. You’ll also have access to a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental insurance, generous leave policies, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan similar to a ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives
Eligible newly appointed Border Patrol Agents may receive up to $20,000 in incentives, with $10,000 awarded upon completing the Border Patrol Academy and the remainder for accepting prioritized duty locations.
Retention Incentives
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents may be eligible for retention incentives of up to $40,000 over their first four years.
Duty Locations
Please note that duty assignments may include positions at the Southwest Border, with relocation potentially required based on operational needs. A fully trained BPA may also be eligible for additional locality pay of up to 25% of base salary.
