Salary and Benefits
Newly appointed BPAs can expect an annual base salary ranging from GL-5/GL-7 at $51,632 to $92,219 per year. As a Border Patrol Agent, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision plans, a generous leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement option similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentive: Eligible for up to $20,000 in incentives, with the first $10,000 payable upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy.
Retention Incentive: New agents may qualify for up to $40,000 in additional incentives distributed over four years.
Duty Locations
Please note that duty assignments may include the Southwest Border, with potential relocation required. Actual duty locations are determined based on operational needs. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay under the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This position offers a career ladder progression through various grade levels.
