A MISSION WORTHY OF A CAREER!
Are you ready to embark on a fulfilling career in federal law enforcement that has a direct impact on securing our nation? The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) invites you to take the first step toward becoming an entry-level Border Patrol Agent. This role is perfect for individuals seeking not just a job, but a long-term career that contributes to the safety and security of the United States.
USBP is actively hiring for full-time, entry-level positions in federal law enforcement. Ideal candidates may have prior experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement. You will train and work alongside a distinguished team of professionals who share camaraderie, pride, and a strong sense of purpose in their daily mission.
Now is the perfect time to join us! Along with competitive base pay, exceptional benefits, and job stability, USBP is offering up to $60,000 in additional incentives (details below).
Salary and Benefits
The annual base salary for newly appointed Border Patrol Agents varies by grade level, ranging from GL-5/GL-7 at $51,632 to $92,219 per year. As a Border Patrol Agent, you will have access to a comprehensive suite of federal employment benefits, including health and dental insurance, a generous leave program, and the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentive
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents will be eligible for incentives up to $20,000. The first $10,000 will be awarded upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with the remaining $10,000 granted for accepting a prioritized location such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer, or Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ.
Retention Incentive
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents may also qualify for up to $40,000 in additional incentives distributed over their first four years.
Duty Locations
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Duty assignments at the time of offer may include the Southwest Border, particularly prioritized locations. The U.S. Border Patrol determines duty assignments based on operational needs, which may not align with candidates' preferences. RELOCATION MAY BE REQUIRED.
Please note that duty location can impact pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in certain areas. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for an additional 25% of base pay under the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with grade level progression from GL-5 to GS-12.
