AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist II to join our dynamic team focused on Water and Wastewater Program initiatives. This full-time position offers a hybrid work environment, combining both on-site and remote work, and is located in Loudoun, Virginia. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience addressing community water and wastewater challenges within the municipal sector and demonstrate the ability to work independently on assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in providing technical support for various environmental programs under supervisor guidance, including the existing Water and Wastewater Assistance Program, while coordinating efforts with other jurisdictions and preparing presentation materials.
- Contribute to strategic water and wastewater projects, ensuring collaboration across different departments and stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough research and evaluations of environmental legislation, providing detailed written analyses and updates on legislation throughout the General Assembly session.
- Perform additional essential functions as needed based on departmental assignments.
Illustrative Tasks
- Collaborate within project teams on water and wastewater initiatives, facilitating coordination among multiple departments, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Oversee operations and maintenance schedules for Alternative Onsite Sewage Systems and Wells, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- Support maintenance teams during onsite sewage system repairs and address emergency response issues for public waterworks.
- Review engineering plans and provide feedback on proposals for new County facilities regarding water and wastewater systems.
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of onsite and wastewater systems across various facilities.
- Process purchase orders and invoices related to necessary water and wastewater system work.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate state environmental and energy-related legislation.
