We are looking for an Executive Director, Discovery Neuroscience to lead our research team in Ludwigshafen, Germany. You will oversee a multidisciplinary group of approximately 80 top-tier scientists specializing in molecular and cell biology and in-vivo pharmacology, while collaborating with global teams in Medicinal Chemistry, Toxicology, Genomics, Translational Sciences, and DMPK.
As a member of the Neuroscience and Ophthalmology Discovery Leadership Team, you will share responsibility for the success of AbbVie’s pipeline. Your role will include championing the Ludwigshafen team both locally and within the broader AbbVie community.
Your contributions will include providing scientific insights that drive compelling opportunities through the pipeline, including the use of cellular and animal models, optimal translational strategies, and the introduction of new technologies. You will advise on and share accountability for major drug discovery and development milestones, evaluate scientific merits of potential biotechnology alliances, and guide AbbVie’s research collaborations in relevant disease areas.

We seek an inspiring leader with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, who has successfully driven programs from target identification to clinical milestones, and possesses exceptional communication, mentoring, and alliance-building skills.
