About the Position
Jane Street is seeking a talented Macro Analyst to join our dynamic global trading team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in quantitative and fundamental analysis to enhance our core trading strategies. Your insights into global macroeconomic trends will be crucial in identifying and capitalizing on trading opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing comprehensive coverage of macroeconomic events and unique situations.
- Conducting scenario evaluations and analysis for scheduled macro events.
- Providing real-time evaluations for unexpected macro news, effectively communicating valuation shifts and investment strategies to our global trading teams.
- Engaging in in-depth discussions with traders, delivering macro updates and quantitative analyses, and clearly articulating your rationale supported by data and statistical insights.
- Collaborating with sell-side sales and research contacts worldwide, aggregating broker notes, and formulating and summarizing your opinions (having your own broker contacts is a significant advantage).
- Conducting long-term research on targeted macro topics, from formulating pertinent questions and gathering data to analyzing findings and providing well-supported recommendations.
About You
- You possess a robust quantitative background with a strong understanding of probability.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can communicate effectively with traders, defending your analyses to diverse audiences.
- You have at least 3 years of experience in macro analysis within trading, financial services, or governmental institutions.
- You possess regional expertise in Asia, particularly in relation to China.
- You stay updated with the latest published research and are willing to explore less-traditional areas.
- You can adeptly combine datasets, statistical models, and broader economic insights to address complex questions.
- Programming skills, particularly in Python, are a plus.
- Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in Asian languages, especially Mandarin, preferred.
