Join a leading force in the medical device industry as a Manufacturing Engineer 3 at Intuitive Surgical, where your expertise in manufacturing processes and project management will make a significant impact. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the implementation of Lean methodologies and drive continuous improvement initiatives across our facility, enhancing our production environment for precision instruments utilized in minimally invasive robotic surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment, driving design improvements for production efficiency.
- Analyze and challenge design mechanisms to ensure reliability, functionality, and manufacturability, proposing necessary changes.
- Develop and document efficient high-volume manufacturing assembly lines, focusing on workflow and process optimization.
- Specify, document, and manage the procurement, repair, and maintenance of fixtures and equipment.
- Incorporate critical inspection and testing checkpoints into manufacturing processes, documenting any discrepancies.
- Approve design releases and review engineering documentation, providing input on manufacturability.
- Assess and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) from both manufacturing and field perspectives.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and lead efforts to select mechanical parts suppliers, resolving quality issues as needed.
- Recruit, train, and motivate production staff to adhere to procedures and achieve high-quality standards.
- Update Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs) to maintain accuracy and relevance.
- Address and resolve line support issues promptly.
- Document and report variances, issues, and concerns throughout the manufacturing process.
- Provide regular feedback on performance expectations to production personnel.
- Drive enhancements in safety, quality, production efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Plan, supervise, and report on production performance metrics, including output, yield, and efficiency trends.
- Ensure strict adherence to Department Operating Procedures (DOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
