As an External Sales Representative at American Iron & Metal, you will report directly to the Regional Director and collaborate closely with our management team. Your primary responsibility will be to procure scrap metal from dealerships and intercompany sources. You will also play a pivotal role in fostering and maintaining outstanding relationships with both new and existing clients. This position requires a motivated and dynamic individual who excels in teamwork and communication with various departments, customers, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and purchase scrap metal to meet or surpass tonnage targets while maximizing profit margins;
- Engage with dealerships and industrial suppliers both in-person and via phone to generate new business and retain existing clients, providing pricing, customer service, and addressing inquiries and concerns;
- Identify and pursue new customer opportunities through door-to-door visits to individuals and small businesses;
- Build a robust network of contacts for current information on buy/sell pricing and market trends;
- Negotiate contracts with clients to secure advantageous agreements;
- Conduct P&L analyses to inform purchasing decisions;
- Utilize knowledge of yard operations and processing to optimize pricing strategies;
- Coordinate with administrative and commercial teams to ensure accurate documentation of all transactions;
- Advise on scrap pricing for AIM-operated sites based on market conditions;
- Complete special projects as assigned by management;
- Mentor and support team members in achieving sales goals;
- Spend approximately 80% of your time in the field and 20% in the office;
- Perform other related duties as required.
