Join the esteemed Harold Walter Siebens School of Business at Buena Vista University (BVU) as we welcome applications for a faculty role in Agricultural Business, set to commence in August 2026. We are in search of an enthusiastic educator dedicated to undergraduate teaching and the advancement of agricultural business education. The ideal candidate will be responsible for instructing Agricultural Business courses, enhancing the core business curriculum, and leading the Agricultural Business program, ensuring its relevance to the evolving agricultural sector.
This position involves collaboration with the Director of BVU’s Ag Institute, BVU’s Ag Experiment Station (known as “The Farm”), and the Lamberti Center for Rural Entrepreneurship. Together, we aim to create practical learning opportunities that prepare students for rewarding careers. Depending on qualifications, this role may offer a tenure-track or term contract.
Our Agricultural Business major equips students with robust analytical, interpersonal, and professional competencies, rooted in a thorough understanding of the industry. The Siebens School is committed to cultivating exceptional business leaders through a rigorous and engaging learning atmosphere. Opportunities include coursework, simulations, internships, projects, travel, professional conferences, and faculty research partnerships, all designed to provide invaluable hands-on experience with industry partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach 12 credit hours each semester (fall and spring).
- Develop innovative, problem-based curricula within a supportive learning environment.
- Integrate experiential learning opportunities into the student experience.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Engage effectively with students and peers, demonstrating independence and teamwork.
- Show willingness to work with diverse populations.
- Mentor and advise students and student organizations.
- Stay updated in the field through ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to university service through committee involvement and departmental projects.
- Assist in student recruitment efforts.
- Foster relationships with marketing professionals, industry leaders, and organizations to ensure curriculum relevance and facilitate student internships and career opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Agricultural Business or a closely related field.
