Healthy Lincoln County is seeking a dedicated contractor to support our Summer Meals program. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking temporary summer employment while making a positive impact in the local community.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), managed in collaboration with the Maine Department of Education, is a federally funded initiative by the USDA that provides free meals to children aged 18 and under during the summer months. The SFSP ensures that low-income children receive nutritious meals when school is not in session, with approved SFSP sites offering meals that meet federal nutritional guidelines.
This contracted position involves key responsibilities such as program compliance, volunteer recruitment and management, monitoring meal site visits, and conducting community outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Food Systems Coordinator with the increased summer workload for the Farmers Market Promotion Program and related food security initiatives.
- Staff the HLC booth at the Boothbay and Damariscotta Farmers Markets, engaging with customers and promoting SNAP, WIC, Maine Harvest Bucks, and other incentives.
- Provide on-site shopper education to help customers understand and effectively use available benefits.
