About the job
The Field Engineer is integral to the success of both on-site projects and home office operations. Spending around 75% of the year at various project locations, this role is essential to the project management team, offering support in planning, scheduling, execution oversight, tooling management, safety and quality assurance, subcontract monitoring, and comprehensive reporting for corporate and customer interfaces. The Field Engineer also contributes to the planning and estimating of future TEiC projects while at the home office.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution
- Assist in the development and execution of project plans and schedules.
- Monitor project activities to ensure they adhere to established plans.
- Manage rigging and execution plans while collaborating with engineers.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of project documents and reports to stakeholders.
Collaboration
- Act as a liaison with engineering teams, offering direction and troubleshooting support.
- Engage with the project management team and craft personnel, providing necessary guidance.
- Participate in project planning activities, including meetings and customer visits.
- Maintain communication with customer representatives to align project activities with expectations.
Customer Focus
- Communicate effectively with project management, engineering teams, and customers.
- Update clients and TEiC leadership on project progress and changes.
- Prepare change order estimates and communicate necessary adjustments to clients.
Technical Expertise
- Review engineering drawings and analyze their impact on project operations.
- Assist the operations department in proposal development, scheduling, and forecasting.
Critical Thinking
- Identify project challenges and propose solutions, including necessary change orders.
Continuous Improvement
- Track project progress, manage rigging, and execution plans effectively.
Organizational Leadership
- Balance on-site project responsibilities with home office tasks efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Proven experience in project management within power generation or related fields.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
