The First Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting meals that align with quality standards, productivity goals, and cost management. Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Production:
- Oversee meal preparation and cooking during assigned shifts.
- Minimize food waste effectively.
- Ensure proper portioning and adherence to menus, standardized recipes, and special dietary needs.
- Maintain food safety standards by properly covering, labeling, and dating all items in storage.
- Utilize, clean, maintain, and store kitchen equipment appropriately, addressing maintenance issues as needed.
- Assist in developing cooking methods and recipes for the Culinary Staff.
- Test food for quality and flavor.
- Collaborate with the Jr. Sous Chef and Exec Sous Chef for timely meal delivery and special execution.
Sanitation:
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas according to local, state, and federal regulations.
