The Staff Nurse - Inpatient embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, regulatory and accreditation standards.
As a clinically proficient registered nurse, you will prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care for acutely ill patients through a comprehensive nursing process that includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. You will effectively communicate with patients, their significant others, and other healthcare team members while upholding the ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze patient data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement tailored care plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate patient progress.
- Lead care efforts and determine the proper utilization of nursing assistants in delivering patient care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create documented care plans focused on outcomes and decisions related to service delivery.
- Engage in shared governance, participate in committee work, and contribute to unit projects.
- Assess and document patient responses to nursing interventions in health records, adjusting care plans based on evaluations.
- Utilize the latest evidence, including research findings, to guide clinical practice decisions.
