About the job
Join us as a Functional Specialist, where your expertise will play a crucial role in assisting the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in making informed decisions regarding individuals' health and care needs.
If you are currently a nurse seeking a transition from direct patient care, this position will allow you to enhance your assessment abilities while leveraging your clinical knowledge to provide critical recommendations. This role is also ideal for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, or paramedics eager to explore new evaluation approaches in a different context. We seek compassionate professionals who understand the complexities of our claimants' health conditions and disabilities and their effects on daily life.
Our organization is committed to your professional development, offering extensive training and dedicated time for self-directed learning. If you desire a change that includes more predictable working hours, a competitive salary, and an opportunity to broaden your skills, this may be the perfect position for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting assessments—initial reviews, paper-based evaluations, face-to-face, video, or telephone assessments—to ascertain how a claimant's health condition or disability influences their everyday life.
- Observing and documenting an individual's capacity to perform daily activities.
- Analyzing and interpreting clinical data and supporting evidence.
- Preparing detailed reports (3,000-4,000 words) based on the evidence collected for each claimant, with a limit of three reports per day.
- Providing sufficient detail, evidence, and justification to assist the DWP in their decision-making processes.
- Expanding your clinical knowledge by learning about various health conditions.
- This is a hybrid role, requiring you to work from home and report to your nearest assessment center on a rotational basis for in-person assessments.
