Your Role:
As the General Counsel at Sentient, you will operate as a vital solo legal resource, diving into the intricacies of contract reviews, grants, and legal agreements. This dynamic position is perfect for a proactive corporate lawyer who excels in daily operations, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and working closely with our cofounders and cross-functional teams to navigate the legal landscape.
Your Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted advisor on all legal matters, focusing on corporate issues and product-related inquiries, including negotiating contracts with partners and vendors.
Draft and negotiate innovative agreements tailored for Sentient's products and collaborations.
Provide comprehensive legal support to operational entities, advising on product development, compliance, corporate governance, and best operational practices.
Create and optimize legal contracting workflows and processes.
Efficiently manage external legal counsel for high-profile projects, ensuring the retention of domain expertise.
Ensure multi-jurisdictional legal compliance, collaborating with external counsel on matters like termination notices and General Release forms.
Implement and oversee policies related to record retention across various departments.
Support the execution of commercial and financial agreements, including business development deals, contractor agreements, and advisor compensation.
What You’ll Need:
J.D. degree from a prestigious law school and admission to at least one state bar.
4-8 years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department.
Exceptional negotiation and drafting abilities, with a deep understanding of contract terms.
Strong knowledge of corporate law and compliance matters.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
