Embark on a Journey. Cultivate Your Future.
AECOM’s Water division in the UK&I is expanding its geospatial capabilities to meet the increasing demands of our clients through AMP8 and beyond. This newly created position is pivotal in leading this growth.
As the Geospatial Lead, you will spearhead the establishment and development of a specialized geospatial team dedicated to serving our water clients. This role merges technical leadership with strategic client interaction. You will influence how AECOM delivers spatial data services to the UK water industry, covering areas such as asset data management, network analysis, spatial planning, and regulatory submissions. Additionally, you will be charged with building the team and establishing operational processes to fulfill this vision.
This position is ideal for an innovative individual eager to create impactful solutions rather than merely maintaining existing operations. You will benefit from AECOM's vast geospatial community, established water sector relationships, and our digital strategies while having the autonomy to direct and expand our capabilities.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Technical Leadership and Capability Development
Define and establish AECOM's geospatial service offerings for the UK&I water market, setting the technical approach, tools, and standards that drive delivery. Lead and develop a team of geospatial experts, focusing on recruitment and capability enhancement to meet current and future needs. Foster strong relationships with AECOM's broader geospatial community to ensure the water team leverages global best practices while contributing sector-specific insights. Drive innovation in applying geospatial technology to tackle water sector challenges, integrating with BIM, digital twins, and asset information management systems. Create robust, repeatable data integration processes utilizing FME and related tools for seamless data exchange among client systems, AECOM platforms, and third-party applications. Ensure quality and consistency in GIS outputs across the water portfolio.
Client Interaction and Business Growth
Collaborate directly with water utility clients to understand their challenges and shape geospatial strategies that address their needs. Oversee major program delivery, taking charge of client relationships, commercial performance, and technical outcomes. Identify and pursue growth opportunities within existing frameworks and new clients, contributing to bids and proposals. Establish AECOM as a trusted advisor on geospatial issues in the water sector, enhancing our reputation through effective delivery and thought leadership. Work alongside other disciplines such as asset management, engineering, and environmental to create integrated offerings that capitalize on geospatial capabilities. Seek opportunities to enhance projects through the application of geospatial tools and techniques.
Team Development and Operations Management
Recruit, nurture, and retain top-tier geospatial professionals, fostering a collaborative environment where they can excel and contribute to team success.
