About the job
Kickstart Your Career. Shape the Future.
AECOM is enhancing its geospatial capabilities within the Water sector across the UK&I to meet increasing client needs for AMP8 and beyond. This newly created role is pivotal in driving that growth.
As the Geospatial Lead, you will be instrumental in forming and expanding a specialized geospatial team dedicated to serving our water clients. This position blends technical leadership with strategic client interaction. You will redefine how AECOM delivers spatial data services to the UK water sector, covering aspects from asset data management and network analysis to spatial planning and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will be tasked with building the team and developing effective operational methods to meet our ambitions.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to create and innovate rather than merely manage existing functions. You will have the backing of AECOM's extensive geospatial community, established relationships with water clients, and our digital strategy, but you will lead the vision and capability growth.
Your Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership and Capability Building
Define AECOM's geospatial service offerings for the UK&I water market, establishing technical approaches, tools, and standards for delivery. Build and lead a team of geospatial experts, focusing on recruiting talent and developing skills to meet current and future demands. Foster relationships with AECOM's global geospatial community, ensuring the water team leverages international best practices while contributing sector-specific insights. Drive innovation in applying geospatial technology to water sector challenges, integrating solutions like BIM, digital twins, and asset information management systems. Implement robust data integration processes using FME and related tools, facilitating efficient data exchanges between client systems, AECOM platforms, and third-party applications. Ensure high quality and consistency in GIS deliverables across all water projects.
Client Engagement and Business Development
Collaborate directly with water utility clients to understand their challenges and develop geospatial strategies that effectively address them. Manage major program deliveries, overseeing client relationships, commercial performance, and technical outcomes. Seek and capitalize on growth opportunities within existing frameworks and new clients, contributing to bids and proposals. Establish AECOM as a trusted advisor on geospatial issues within the water sector, enhancing our reputation through delivery excellence and thought leadership. Work alongside other disciplines, such as asset management, engineering, and environmental teams, to create integrated propositions leveraging geospatial expertise. Identify opportunities to enrich projects with advanced geospatial tools and techniques.
Team Development and Operations
Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier talent within the geospatial field, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Drive operational efficiency to ensure high-quality service delivery to our clients.
