Position Overview
The Augsburg Athletics Fellowship Program offers a unique professional experience in coaching that complements graduate studies and research. As a Graduate Assistant, you will support the head coach in fostering the development and success of the football program.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in identifying and recruiting talented prospective student-athletes in line with the program's recruiting strategy, adhering to NCAA, MIAC, and Augsburg's standards and regulations.
- Conduct coaching during practice sessions, analyze game footage, and lead team meetings.
- Provide instruction to student-athletes on physical health, team dynamics, safety protocols, and sport-specific skills both in individual and team settings.
- Mentor student-athletes to promote personal and athletic growth.
- Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes and teams, ensuring they meet or exceed athletic department standards and intervening with corrective action when necessary.
Additional Duties
- Assist with budget management, fundraising efforts, travel arrangements, and overall program organization.
- Facilitate communication and engagement with alumni and parents, including organizing relevant events.
- Help organize and participate in community service events for the team.
- Support the execution of camps and clinics.
- Supervise student workers as needed.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Work Environment and Physical Expectations
- Work will take place on sport-specific surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, subject to seasonal weather conditions.
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and travel is required.
