Position Overview
The Augsburg Athletics Fellowship Program offers invaluable professional coaching experiences that enhance graduate education and research. The Graduate Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the head coach in the advancement and success of women's lacrosse.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Head Coach, the Graduate Assistant will:
- Identify and recruit talented prospective student-athletes in alignment with the program's recruiting strategy, adhering to NCAA, MIAC, and Augsburg's recruitment and admission guidelines.
- Oversee practice sessions, analyze game footage, and facilitate team discussions.
- Provide instruction to student-athletes regarding physical wellness, team dynamics, safety protocols, and sport-specific skills, both individually and in a group setting.
- Act as a mentor to student-athletes.
- Monitor and support the academic achievements of student-athletes, ensuring they meet or exceed departmental standards; provide timely interventions as necessary.
Additional Duties
- Assist with managing budgets, fundraising initiatives, travel arrangements, and overall program organization as required.
- Engage with alumni and parents, fostering communication and organizing relevant events.
- Participate in and help coordinate community service initiatives for the team.
- Support and facilitate camps and clinics.
- Supervise student workers when applicable.
- Execute any other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Sport-specific environments including various playing surfaces, indoors and outdoors, subject to seasonal weather conditions.
- Availability for evening and weekend commitments, along with travel as required.
