This is a Level B student position with a competitive hourly wage of $17.45.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with CTEC's Executive Director, Jason Blazakis, and Senior Research Analyst, Isabela Bernardo, on research addressing violent extremism, including issues related to violent misogyny and the involuntary celibate (INCEL) phenomenon, particularly in online environments.
- Assist in exploring the relationship between conflict transformation and illicit financing, producing literature reviews to inform future research initiatives within CTEC.
Additional Duties:
- Undertake related tasks as assigned by Professor Blazakis or Isabela Bernardo.
Understanding Conflict Transformation:
The two Graduate Research Assistants focusing on INCEL and violent misogyny will develop critical conflict transformation skills. This includes mediation techniques to assist individuals potentially on paths to radicalization and restorative practices aimed at repairing relationships and fostering accountability. This role involves understanding the complexities of radicalization, exploring creative alternatives to disengage individuals from violence, and learning about historical and preventative measures related to violent misogyny.
The Graduate Research Assistant working with Professor Blazakis will gain insights into terrorist financing, exploring resource-related issues in various contexts.
