About the job
Head of Legal @ Outpost
About Outpost
Transforming Global Expansion. Outpost is addressing the complexities of international commerce, making it seamless for businesses to operate globally. By acting as the Merchant of Record in over 58 tax jurisdictions, we streamline payments, tax compliance, and customer interactions, allowing brands to thrive without local entities.
The Role
We are seeking a dynamic Head of Legal to establish the legal and regulatory framework for our rapidly growing fintech. This role is ideal for a proactive legal expert eager to lead in an innovative environment rather than maintain processes in a traditional setting.
You will report directly to the CEO, overseeing all legal aspects including commercial contracts, payment regulations, AML, corporate governance, and fundraising. While most of the work will be handled in-house, you will also coordinate with external legal counsel in new geographies as we broaden our reach.
This role demands fluency in the regulatory landscape encompassing payments, tax, and global commerce. You will engage with Visa/Mastercard guidelines, EMI and PSD2 regulations, and design AML programs while negotiating commercial agreements with enterprise clients.
This position transcends mere advisory—your responsibilities will include drafting, negotiating, and creating legal frameworks that influence Outpost's operations in new markets, guiding us through the intricacies of being a global Merchant of Record.
What You'll Get
While the workload is substantial, you will gain an unparalleled sense of ownership over your work. You will construct legal infrastructures from the ground up, engage directly with the CEO on pivotal decisions, and play a key role in our international scaling efforts. This is your opportunity to expand beyond traditional legal work into compliance, regulatory strategy, and international operations.
What You'll Do
Commercial & Contracts
- Lead all commercial agreements including MSAs, merchant contracts, and partnership deals.
- Draft and negotiate contracts rather than solely reviewing them.
- Create contract templates and playbooks that standardize processes.
