As a 15:1 Special Education Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
Designing and adapting curriculum that complies with NY State Regents standards to prepare students effectively for their exams.
Developing lesson plans in English, math, science, and history that cater to the unique and varied needs of the classroom cohort.
Crafting and executing lessons aimed at equipping students with the skills to excel in NY State Regents exams.
Aligning lesson strategies with students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
Creating modified interim assessments that align with NY State Regents exams.
Analyzing assessment data to gauge student mastery and identify areas for re-teaching.
Collaborating with families and the Special Education team to formulate 504 Plans and IEPs that provide necessary accommodations.
Fostering a safe and inclusive environment that empowers students to thrive.
Responsibilities Specific to Special Education:
Working with school leaders and families to review and address trends in student performance and ensure IEP compliance.
Managing a caseload of IEPs, including collecting academic growth data, drafting IEPs, and participating in IEP meetings.
Utilizing various instructional strategies, including small group and individualized instruction, to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Contributing to School Culture:
Building positive relationships with students to ensure they feel acknowledged, supported, and valued.
Collaborating with families to ensure that the necessary resources are available to support their child's educational journey.
Engaging in professional development opportunities, practice clinics, and coaching sessions.
Participating in weekly school-wide meetings to foster community, exemplify our core values, and promote student success.
Collaborating with your grade level team and the 15:1 team to set academic objectives and refine teaching strategies.
