Role Overview
The Indigenous Support Worker plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive case management services to Indigenous clients and residents requiring both temporary and ongoing support. This includes:
- Conducting assessments for individuals and families referred by Resident or Community Services, ensuring culturally appropriate support and referrals to other community services;
- Collaborating with Resident Services and the Associate Director to resolve tenancy issues;
- Partnering with Outreach staff and the Manager of Community Services to facilitate housing for clients experiencing homelessness or shelter living;
- Assisting clients in accessing essential services including income assistance, housing, food programs, treatment/recovery services, education, medical care, and mental health resources;
- Developing and managing tailored case plans aimed at promoting long-term wellness and housing stability.
Preference will be given to candidates with lived Indigenous experience, as this role requires close engagement with Indigenous clients and residents.
Key Responsibilities
1. Utilizing a strength-based, client-centered approach, you will provide comprehensive case development and ongoing management services, which include:
- Initiating contact, assessing needs, and building therapeutic relationships with individuals and families requiring various forms of support;
- Identifying strengths and barriers to housing stability and assisting clients in overcoming challenges;
- Working collaboratively to develop an understanding of each client's unique situation and create appropriate solutions.
