Key Responsibilities:
The Information Assurance Specialist will play a crucial role in providing security engineering and information assurance support to the Government's Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process. This role is vital for maintaining the Authority to Operate (ATO) and Authority to Connect (ATC) for mission-critical applications and services. Responsibilities include designing, developing, monitoring, and documenting security controls, conducting security testing, producing security reports, and managing Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms) throughout the systems and application lifecycles to support mission operations.
This position involves providing security engineering design inputs, conducting security design reviews, and championing security best practices as part of technical evaluations and change requests. The specialist will also be responsible for configuring and validating secure systems, implementing physical controls, and testing security products and systems to identify vulnerabilities. Furthermore, maintaining XACTA security records for supported systems is a key aspect of this role.
