The Intake Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients following hospital policies and procedures. This role involves assessing patient needs, planning and implementing nursing care, evaluating patient progress, and adapting care plans as required. The RN will also provide education to patients and their families, while supervising nursing support staff through effective delegation and oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care, addressing both social and emotional needs, overseeing medication schedules, and tracking patient progress.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
- Facilitate social support for patients by promoting participation in support groups and therapeutic activities.
- Conduct intake assessments through patient and family interviews to collect case history.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans for patients.
- Make nursing diagnoses regarding patients' medical and emotional conditions and recommend treatment options.
- Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health professionals to create tailored treatment plans for clients.
- Administer psychotropic medications and monitor patient reactions.
- Coordinate further medical attention as needed.
- Assist clients in understanding their emotional challenges and the necessity for treatment.
- Document patient activities and progress accurately while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Utilize professional judgment to apply intervention techniques for patients in crisis.
- Contribute to maintaining a secure environment for all.
- Assess vital signs and ensure effective pain management.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate medical records.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and updating progress notes in the electronic system.
- Evaluate patient admissions to confirm eligibility criteria.
