KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install irrigation systems for new constructions and renovations.
- Winterize existing irrigation systems.
- Install and test backflow prevention devices.
- Perform repairs on district irrigation systems, including sprinkler heads, valves, and PVC piping.
- Conduct maintenance and testing of all backflow devices on various district systems and equipment.
- Gather and input site data into computerized sprinkler control systems.
- Program, repair, and adjust digital and electro-mechanical sprinkler codes.
- Install, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair timers, pressure regulators, valves, and backflow preventers.
- Assist in reviewing work requests and job assignments.
- Contribute to the design of district irrigation systems.
- Maintain a repair truck and shop with necessary materials and tools, driving to installation and repair sites.
- Inspect and test new irrigation systems installed by contractors, assisting with walk-throughs and final inspections.
- Keep records of backflow device tests and prepare related reports.
- Repair vandalism damage such as broken sprinkler heads.
- Assist in ordering replacement parts and complete PIP sheets for the foreman.
- Help determine supply and equipment needs, find vendors, and prepare price information forms for the foreman.
- Be on-call for troubleshooting and emergency repairs during the irrigation season.
- Auger, clean, and maintain drainage systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred previous experience in related tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities, or a combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems service, repair, remodel, and installation.
- Familiarity with irrigation codes and safety procedures.
- Skills in installing and repairing piping and fixtures.
- Ability to program temperature and timing systems.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, legends, plot plans, configurations, and charts.
