The Role
This position offers the chance to take charge of and enhance the IT and cyber security framework of a dynamic, London-based hedge fund comprising 120 professionals. You will lead a small team while remaining hands-on with infrastructure, user support, and security measures.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will have immediate access to senior management.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining, enhancing, and evolving an established IT and security environment, ensuring it is robust, efficient, and in compliance with regulatory standards. You will have the opportunity to influence tool selection, vendor relationships, and priorities, all while further strengthening our IT and cyber security practices in line with the firm’s growth and technological advancements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily IT support operations, including end-user assistance, laptops/desktops, AV systems, networking, servers, SaaS, and market/trading systems connectivity.
- Design, implement, and maintain key cyber security controls such as endpoint protection, threat detection, email security, identity and access management, patching, logging/monitoring, and backups.
- Develop and uphold IT and security policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements for investment firms.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a two-person IT team, ensuring top-tier onsite support for all employees.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents while leading incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation efforts.
- Manage user provisioning, permissions, and joiner/mover/leaver processes to ensure adequate access control across systems.
