Join the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) as a Java Developer Intern, where you will earn an hourly wage of $26.73. The ACS is dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing the well-being of children and families through comprehensive child welfare and juvenile justice services, as well as community support initiatives. Our agency manages a spectrum of community-based supports, foster care services, and subsidized childcare vouchers while providing immediate responses to allegations of child maltreatment.
As part of the ACS Office of Information Technology (OIT), you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality and sustainable technology solutions that meet the unique needs of the families and children we serve. Within our Digital Product Strategy and Solutions (DPSS) unit, you will help transform innovative ideas into scalable, user-centered digital products that improve services for children, families, and frontline staff.
In this internship, you will gain hands-on experience in application development and design, cloud-based solutions, data integration, and DevOps practices. You will collaborate closely with the OIT Business Solutions Unit, which is essential in building, enhancing, and maintaining 76 in-house applications vital to ACS operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Development and Design: Assist in the creation of applications and APIs, as well as microservices using Java, Oracle, WebLogic, Angular, Tomcat, and DevSecOps methodologies, adhering to various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices such as Hybrid Agile.
- Cloud-Based Solutions: Aid in the design and deployment of applications utilizing cloud platforms like Azure Kubernetes with SQL Server/Oracle backends.
- Data Integration: Develop and implement data integrations and feeds from Oracle and SQL Server databases through SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and APIs.
- DevOps: Manage source code using version control systems like Git and support code validation and deployment through DevOps pipelines.
