Basic Assignment:
As a Program Leader at After-School All-Stars, you will play a crucial role in providing leadership and support for academic, cultural, and recreational enrichment activities. Working under the guidance of the ASAS-LA Program Specialist, you will create a safe and inspiring environment that educates and motivates youth in a school setting.
Major Functions:
- Lead and assist in the planning and execution of daily after-school programs under the direct supervision of a Program Specialist.
- Develop lesson plans and facilitate activities aligned with California State Standards throughout the academic year.
- Maintain an engaging 20:1 student-to-staff ratio by implementing effective recruitment and retention strategies.
- Create a stimulating environment with academic, cultural, and recreational enrichment, including organizing necessary supplies and materials.
- Apply age-appropriate methods and youth development principles in all activities.
- Supervise participants in various activity areas to ensure safety and engagement.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and build rapport with all stakeholders, including school staff, parents, and community members.
- Communicate effectively with school personnel, parents, and families regarding program activities, student needs, and academic performance.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- Be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Willingness to travel to off-site meetings, training, and events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
