As a Junior Hydrogeologist at Rosebel Gold Mines, you will play a vital role in supporting daily hydrogeological operations related to pit dewatering and waste dump drainage. Your contributions will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant mining activities in alignment with RGM's stringent safety standards. This position emphasizes field monitoring, data quality assessment, analytical tasks, and assistance with mine planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Planning:
Develop short-term and annual dewatering strategies that align with the mine's operational sequence.
Execute pump sizing, hydraulic calculations, and system optimization.
Assess system performance, downtime, and efficiency metrics.
Assist in the CAPEX/OPEX budgeting process and procurement planning.
Engage in groundwater monitoring and surface water management initiatives.
Compile technical reports and visual dashboards.
Support the design of drainage infrastructure and ongoing improvement projects.
Operational & Field Support:
Oversee and operate dewatering systems including pumps, pipelines, sumps, and discharge mechanisms.
Conduct field inspections and promote safe working practices.
Monitor water levels, inflows, rainfall effects, and seepage occurrences.
Maintain precise operational documentation.
Assist in managing emergency situations during heavy rainfall.
Contribute to construction oversight, surveys, quality assurance/control, and well monitoring.
Diagnose water-related operational challenges and monitor pump maintenance.
