PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the meticulous preparation, processing, and analysis of samples in accordance with established methods and procedures, all aimed at supporting quality and management systems.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducting Tests
- Accurately manage the handling, storage, retention, and disposal of samples as per prescribed protocols.
- Oversee or perform the preparation of samples for analysis.
- Execute routine analyses on samples following standard operating procedures.
- Operate laboratory instruments in compliance with specified protocols.
- Maintain comprehensive records that reflect maintenance activities, working conditions, and quality control measures.
- Uphold excellent laboratory practices; ensure cleanliness and immediate rectification of any spills.
- Comply with the competency training program to keep skills current.
- Assist in various sections as directed, conducting tasks and analyses for which you are deemed competent.
- Complete any other reasonable tasks as assigned by your direct supervisor.
Planning and Evaluating Tests Under Supervision
- Organize activities based on the volume and quantities of samples received.
- Ensure customer service expectations for testing and analysis are fulfilled.
- Monitor and manage stock levels of necessary chemicals and consumables.
- Assess results against quality control specifications.
- Adhere to sample turnaround timeframes.
Quality System Compliance
- Follow all quality and safety protocols as per the SGS management system.
- Conduct tests on all quality control samples according to established procedures.
- Accurately document results on quality control charts.
- Evaluate results and promptly report any deviations from quality control standards.
- Maintain records of all control and reference sample results.
- Participate in proficiency testing and submit results in a timely manner.
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and improvement requests.
Reporting Findings Under Supervision
- Document all relevant sample information thoroughly.
- Report results utilizing SLIMS and/or designated worksheets.
- Calculate and keep records of all analytical results.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 requirements regarding record keeping and traceability.
Method Modification and Development Under Supervision
- Conduct analyses and report results necessary for method and instrument validation.
- Identify and report any shortcomings and deviations, and take prescribed actions to enhance existing methods and procedures.
