About the job
Job Summary:
The Land Surveyor will play a crucial role in executing precise surveying and setting-out tasks for stormwater and microtunneling projects. This includes work on shafts, tunnels, pipelines, chambers, and associated structures. The successful candidate will ensure that all construction alignments, levels, and coordinates are accurately established in line with approved drawings, project specifications, and RTA/DM standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct topographic, control, and setting-out surveys for stormwater and microtunneling projects, including pipelines, shafts, manholes, and related civil structures.
- Set up, verify, and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, and reference grids in collaboration with the contractor’s survey team.
- Review and apply approved IFC drawings, alignment data, and coordinate systems, adhering to RTA and project specifications.
- Inspect and validate horizontal and vertical alignments, pipe inverts, tunnel drives, and shaft locations before and during construction.
- Ensure all setting-out tasks comply with approved method statements and calibration protocols.
- Carry out as-built surveys and confirm the accuracy of contractors’ as-built drawings prior to submission.
- Monitor microtunneling drive alignments and breakthrough coordinates, ensuring adherence to allowable tolerances.
- Keep accurate and current survey records, field books, and digital data files, ensuring full traceability of survey processes.
- Work closely with the contractor and supervision team to rectify any survey discrepancies or deviations on-site.
- Verify and certify survey outcomes for measurement sheets, interim payments, and progress evaluations.
- Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings to provide insights on survey status, site limitations, and necessary actions.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards during all field operations, particularly in confined-space and shaft environments.
- Calibrate and maintain survey instruments (total stations, GPS, digital levels) according to project QA/QC standards.
- Assist during testing, commissioning, and handover stages by confirming final levels and coordinates.
