Job Title: Lead Bookkeeper - UK Accountant

Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced UK Accountant (Lead Bookkeeper) to enhance our team. The successful candidate will possess 3-5 years of solid experience in UK accounting and bookkeeping, demonstrating proficiency in Xero and Excel. This role encompasses the comprehensive management of accounting and bookkeeping for around 25 diverse clients each month, showcasing your leadership and client management capabilities. Candidates with experience in accounting firms, Xero certification, and CPA qualifications will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Accounting and Bookkeeping:
- Oversee all bookkeeping and accounting functions for clients, including:
- Recording financial transactions accurately.
- Managing both accounts payable and receivable.
- Conducting bank reconciliations.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations.
- Deliver precise and timely financial reporting.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary contact for approximately 25 clients each month.
- Foster and maintain robust relationships, addressing inquiries and offering expert guidance.
- Proactively engage with clients to collect necessary documents and ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Software Proficiency:
- Utilize advanced knowledge of Xero and Excel to streamline accounting processes.
- Assist clients in navigating and optimizing Xero for their financial management needs.
- Resolve any Xero-related issues efficiently.
- Leadership and Team Development:
- Exhibit leadership by mentoring junior staff as applicable.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance processes and maintain high service quality.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure client accounts comply with UK accounting regulations and standards.
- Stay informed about UK tax laws and accounting practices.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting and bookkeeping practices.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and tools to deliver innovative client solutions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of UK accounting and bookkeeping experience.
- Prior experience in an accounting or bookkeeping firm.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Xero (Xero certification preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
