About Our Team
As Nubank embarks on its global journey of innovation, the risk landscape grows increasingly sophisticated. While we have established a robust Risk structure within the 2nd Line of Defence, we are dedicated to further enhancing our risk maturity in the 1st Line. The Business Control Officer (BCO) team has been formed to directly assist various Business Units in managing risks proactively, operating under the premise that the 2nd and 3rd lines of defense may not always be present.
This team is dynamic and evolving, with BCOs expected to contribute to the development of the BCO framework by sharing their insights and helping to establish a 'Best in Class' Risk Management approach within the 1st line of Defense.
About the Role
The BCOs will play a pivotal role in supporting Business Units in achieving their strategic objectives by balancing risk with business priorities. By taking an active role, they will lead by example and assist teams, always with the guiding vision: “To empower our 1st line Nubankers to become proactive Risk Owners, ensuring compliance with standards and safeguarding the interests of the company and its stakeholders.”
To achieve this, BCOs will focus on five key pillars:
- Risk Management Leadership: The BCO will act as a proactive risk advisor during the development of new products and features, identifying and documenting potential issues while assisting Business Unit leaders with prioritization.
- Regulatory Compliance: The BCO will ensure that the first line is compliant with applicable regulations and internal policies.
