The Process Safety Management Lead plays a critical role in the execution, oversight, and continuous enhancement of the Process Safety Management (PSM) programs at Veolia's Beaumont facility, in alignment with CFR 1910.119. This position also ensures compliance with the EPA’s Risk Management Program (RMP) under 40 CFR Part 68, reporting directly to the Beaumont Site EHS Manager.
In this leadership position, you will proactively identify process safety risks associated with chemical manufacturing operations, devising, proposing, and implementing effective mitigation strategies and programs. You will establish and perpetually improve the PSM initiatives on-site while assisting various departments in adhering to both regulatory and internal process safety protocols. Your role will involve leading and participating in incident investigations, root cause analyses, management of change (MOC) procedures, process hazard analysis (PHA) studies, and the development of corrective and preventive actions. Collaborating closely with Production, Engineering, Technology, Global Process Chemistry, and other EHS functions within Veolia is crucial to enhancing overall safety performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and maintain robust Process Safety Management programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Define, track, and analyze process safety metrics, leveraging data from incident reports to refine PSM practices.
- Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis programs, ensuring rigorous adherence to the elements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.119.
- Implement PHA recommendations aimed at risk reduction.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses for process safety events, loss of containment, and near-miss occurrences, providing sustainable corrective actions.
- Support risk assessments for Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) processes.
- Enhance our Contractor Management program.
- Oversee the Gensuite (EHS management system) Management of Change process, providing technical support.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure comprehensive process safety considerations in all projects.
- Create and deliver training programs for employees on internal process safety standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Work alongside global support teams, including Technology, Process Chemistry, and Engineering, to bolster process safety awareness and performance across the organization.
- Implement internal standards for hazardous processes, including flammable materials, combustible dust handling, and neutralization reactions.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on process safety performance and recommendations for management review.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends to maintain compliance and enhance safety protocols.
