Sperasoft is seeking a talented and experienced Level Artist to become a pivotal part of our dynamic art team. In this role, you will have the chance to craft stunning and immersive game environments that enhance player experience. Your responsibilities will include interpreting references and adhering to the artistic vision to develop levels that resonate with the game's narrative and aesthetic. With a sharp eye for detail and the ability to work autonomously, you will take the lead in creating captivating worlds. Your artistic insights and skills will play a crucial role in upholding the visual quality of our games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and embellish environments that promote gameplay clarity, player navigation, and visual storytelling.
- Ensure visual fidelity and uniformity of levels adhere to the established quality standards and artistic direction.
- Collect and organize reference materials for environmental elements.
- Adhere to studio protocols, including naming conventions and asset management practices.
- Construct and modify modular assets to create diverse architectural and environmental settings.
- Develop visual breakdowns, reference boards, and asset inventories as needed.
- Provide production and artistic assistance to the Lead Level Artist.
- Integrate environmental assets and textures effectively into levels.
- Collaborate with Tech Art and Design to optimize levels for performance (draw calls, LODs, streaming).
- Configure asset properties concerning visuals and performance (LODs, collisions, materials).
- Assist in the identification and rectification of visual bugs throughout production and testing phases.
- Evaluate level quality within the engine and implement necessary enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive understanding of architectural and natural environment design principles, composition, scale, and structure.
- Knowledge of gameplay readability, player navigation, and principles of visual guidance.
- Experience in optimizing levels for real-time engines (LOD, draw calls, streaming, etc.).
- Strong skills in modeling modular environmental assets.
- Proficient with Maya and/or Blender.
- Experience with material blending and vertex painting systems.
- Proficient in Unreal Engine or other comparable real-time engines.
- Familiarity with Substance Painter/Designer.
- Understanding of physically based rendering (PBR) workflows and material standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and consistency with the project’s artistic style.
- Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of material optimization techniques for real-time engines.
- Basic knowledge of lighting principles and experience in adjusting lighting in real-time engines.
- Familiarity with procedural tools such as Houdini is an advantage.
- Experience contributing to shipped titles.
