Key Responsibilities:
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on refrigeration equipment, such as walk-in freezers, refrigerators, and coolers, including replacing belts and servicing motors and refrigerant systems.
- Maintain dishwashers, water heaters, steam kettles, cookers, and mixers.
- Service ovens, gas valves, pilot lights, thermocouples, and heating and refrigeration units on food carts.
- Install and relocate food service equipment and appliances as required.
- Oversee the work of others, requisition materials, maintain records of time and materials, and ensure proper user maintenance of equipment.
- When not engaged in food service support, assist with other maintenance tasks throughout the district, which may involve heavy labor and skilled tasks.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Understanding of electrical and plumbing systems, kitchen appliance repair, electric motors, pumps, compressors, and refrigeration systems.
- Familiarity with maintenance tools, materials, and equipment used in food service repair.
- Basic arithmetic and proficiency in English for effective communication.
- Awareness of safety procedures and practices in food service environments.
Required Abilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electric motors, pumps, compressors, heating, and plumbing systems.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift heavy objects as necessary.
- Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
- Estimate time and materials for tasks; maintain accurate work records and reports.
- Follow oral and written instructions effectively.
- Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
