- Exhibit knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions, and the safe administration of radiation.
- Review patient requisitions for consistency with clinical diagnoses and ensure all demographic information is accurate for both the physician and patient.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of mammography and stereotactic equipment, examinations, and protocols, including procedures requiring contrast agents and sterile techniques. Ensure quality control, verifying equipment safety in compliance with MQSA and ACR standards.
- Effectively communicate with and educate patients before, during, and after breast imaging procedures, guiding them and their families towards the next steps in breast health and care continuity.
- Conduct breast imaging examinations, ensuring technical precision, present completed images to the radiologist, and share relevant patient information post-procedure with care teams.
- May perform radiographic examinations in alignment with Vail Health protocols.
- Assist in scheduling breast imaging appointments and coordinating exams to maintain high-quality patient care.
- Support the management of departmental workflows to ensure timely completion of assignments and appropriate patient billing.
- Organize and manage medical supply inventory to promote cost-effective spending within the department, while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Champion breast health education by participating in organizational promotional and educational events.
- Engage in orientation and training of new staff as needed.
